Ultra rare and one of only 200 Ibanez JS guitars ever constructed, arguable one of the most beautiful pieces. A work of art constructed from a pure piece of near perfect transparent acrylic resin with an incredible UV glow. The Joe Satriani Y2K Limited Edition Signature Model is a study in acrylic inspired by Satriani’s masterwork of the same name. Complete with all case candy and certificate of authenticity certifies that this JS2K-PLT serial number 060/200 is a genuine Ibanez Limited Edition Y2K Instrument. This guitar was carefully crafted of the finest material available in strick accordance with the high standards of Ibanez luthiery.

Ibanez JS Y2KPLT Guitars:
The Ibanez JS2k PLT, also known as the Y2K, celebrates the year 2000, with only 200 models produced. The very daring transparent finish is a reference to the album from the time, Crystal Planet and even the pickup bobbins and wire insulation were see-through.
The body is made of transparent acrylic and is luminescent and the pickup selector, the pickups, the head and the silver dots inlaid on the JS neck rosewood fretboard glow under UV lights and are reflective inside the body. A special black hardshell with purple plush lining and a certificate of authenticity engraved on a metal plate are supplied with the JS2k, as well as a chromed Planet Waves strap, a flexible pick guard and some documents and goodies.
The two undressed pickups are a DiMarzio FRED for the neck and a PAF Pro for the bridge, featuring the usual hi-pass filter that can be activated on the volume pot and a coil-tap on the tone pot. The knobs are barrel-shaped and graduated and that is a pretty rare feature for a JS guitar. It’s weight is a bit heavier that the average JS series at 4.8 kg (10.5 lbs), and it features a Lo Pro Edge for the bridge.
Like its sister, the atypical JS2PRM would be launched five years later. The manufacturing quality was the cream of the crop of what Ibanez can produce, however this collection guitar has to be carefully used so as to not scratch the body surface.

GUITAR SUMMARY
This 'Millenium' Limited Edition Joe Satriani Crystal Planet guitar weighs 10.50 lbs. One-piece 12 3/4 inch wide, 1 5/8 inch deep 'see-thru' acylic body, contoured on top and back. One-piece maple neck with a nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches, a scale length of 25 1/2 inches and a very fast thin profile. 'Slab' rosewood fretboard with 22 original medium-thin frets with silver dot position markers including nine inlaid abalone 'planets' on the twelfth fret. Silver colored acrylic veneer on 'futuristic-shaped' headstock with silk-screened "Ibanez" in white and "JS Series" in gold. Locking nut assembly and single-bar string retainer. On the back of the headstock is the limitation number "032-200" stamped in black. Individual Gotoh 'Rotomatic' tuners with octagonal metal buttons. Four-bolt neck plate with serial number "007097" in the center. Two DiMarzio uncovered humbuckers with outputs of 8.55k and 9.82k. Two controls (one volume, one tone) both with pull-push split-coil operation and a three-way pickup selector switch. Clear plastic barrel-shape "Speed" control knobs. Ibanez Floyd Rose Edge tailpiece assembly with six individual locking saddles and vibrato unit. This guitar is in mint, unplayed (9.50) condition. Complete with the original Ibanez 'acrylic' certificate of authenticity with serial number "032/200" etched in black, original hang-tag, instruction manual and various adjustment tools. Housed in the original Ibanez three-latch, rectangular black hardshell case with black leather ends and purple plush lining (9.25).
"Also for the Millenium, Ibanez created its limited-edition JS2K-PLT JS Series Crystal Planet, a tribute to guitar great Joe Satriani. For this guitar, even the pickup bobbins and wire insulation were see-thru. Estimates differ on how many of these were made. Sources at Hoshino say slightly fewer than 100 were made, but other knowledgeable sources put the total nearer 200; pick yer poison. Celluloid, Bakelite, and Lucite all had their shots at providing guitarists with an alternative to wood, though most were motivated more by manufacturing and/or sonic concerns than any scarcity of natural materials. However, there were more serious developments waiting in the wings and these were more directed at the fundamental problems." (Vintage Guitar Magazine, May 2005, p.60).
GUITAR CONDITION REPORT
An unplayed example in brand new except for 1 cosmetic blemish as described below, stunning condition with all case candy, tags and tools that came with the guitar as new including the original hard case
Condition: Fit and Finish
Guitar was manufactured in 2000 and was purchased by a very careful collector who stored this as a prized possession for many years before arriving on our shores. A die hard Satriani fan at heart we are very privileged to offer this guitar for sale. This is one very special guitar! The headstock plastic guard has some small hairline striations emanating from the tuning pegs caused only by a temperature change when in storage. This represents the only blemish in an otherwise almost flawless collectors piece.
Fret Life/Fretboard - This guitar has had no use, no visible signs of playing, therefore Frets have maximum life left in them.
Tremolo - Completely new tremolo with no tarnish
Neck - Original Neck Straight as an arrow with an incredible feel and grain. No cracks or wood problems. The plastic headstock piece has some small marks that have been photographed up close caused by a temperature change when in storage but represents only a minor cosmetic flaw. Easily fixed with some UV plastic cut to size.
Electronics - As you would expect in a new instrument there are no issues with electronics. Sounds like a dream!
Body work- Perfect.
Case - This guitar comes with the a lovely Hard Case in unused condition and only a couple of standard marks from storage.
All case candy is included with this item, completing a stunning collectors piece.

The guitar is then wrapped a total of 3 times in bubble before a strong brown paper incases the the whole guitar.
