In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Steve Vai's landmark solo album, Passion & Warfare, Ibanez proudly releases three limited edition Steve Vai Universe guitars that embody the spirit of his groundbreaking album.
This 7-string guitar, which Steve dubbed the 'Universe', was showcased prominently on Passion & Warfare, and opened the door for guitarists of every musical background to expand their artistic horizons. Initially adopted by like-minded guitar virtuosos, Steve's vision of a new musical
landscape took a turn that perhaps even he hadn't anticipated when, in the hands of Korn and other purveyors of 90's new metal, the 7-string became mandatory equipment for anyone engaging in the genre.
Since that time, Steve, along with countless other 7-string enthusiasts have continued to incorporate the Universe into a myriad of musical settings that have both inspired and challenged the world.
Using the same colorful swirled patterning associated with the original Universe, Ibanez presents this 21st century re-visitation of Passion & Warfare. These handcrafted guitars draw on the color schemes present in the original album artwork, depicting the ravages of a war-torn hell juxtaposed against a nirvana-like state of passion for life and love.

Initially adopted by like-minded guitar virtuosos, Steve's vision of a new musical landscape took a turn that perhaps even he hadn't anticipated when, in the hands of Korn and other purveyors of 90's new metal, the 7-string became mandatory equipment for anyone engaging in the genre.
The UV77 features an American basswood body mated to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with disappearing pyramid inlays. Components include DiMarzio Blaze pickups in an HSH configuration, a low profile double locking tremolo bridge with an Ultralite tremolo arm and a locking nut.
Guitars History
A rarely played example in fantastic condition. This was an Ex-Display model, well looked after and kept as a showpiece for a guitar store in Japan. I am the first owner of the guitar. The guitar is missing the plectrums and certificate but there is no doubt of the authenticity of this Sugi built swirl. I have owned the guitar almost 2 years now. Very rarely played. This guitar has been priced to sell and well under the market value for these so if you're looking for a fantastic value don't miss this opportunity.

As new. 20hrs playtime at a maximum. A mark on the 3rd fret wood which is simply the grain taking on some dust/display tag rubbing. Does not affect playability and very easy to fix if cleaned out.

Production is limited to just 77 of each of three new multi-color swirl finishes: "Passion" (blue and pink), "Warfare" (orange and yellow) and "Silver" (silver and blue). The Passion and Warfare color schemes are inspired by the original album artwork which depicts the ravages of a war-torn hell at the bottom juxtaposed against a nirvana-like state of passion for life and for love at the top. The Silver color scheme hearkens the traditional role of silver in commemorating a 25th anniversary.
A certificate of authenticity and hard-shell case are included with each guitar
