When these came out in the 80’s the SK run was shorter than all of the other NEON guitars due to the notorious paint fade problems when exposed to sunlight. Some love it, some hate it, but either way it rarely matters when you start playing an SK! This guitar absolutely screams and is a homage to everything great about the old 777 jems. Purely ridiculous genius. If you have been looking for an SK you can play without worrying about a tiny nick then this is an ideal guitar for you.
If you would like to make an offer, use the buttons above. The opportunity to own one from this year wont come around again any time soon. The average sale time of an SK on the sellmyjem website is less than 7 days so please don't be disappointed if you haven't signed up to our mailing list!
Guitars History
This guitar has HISTORY all over it, quite literally this guitar has been places, seen things and had a life of a rockstar and its a fantastic thing to see as much as we love mint examples, when it comes to player guitars this one really has an aura about it from the moment the case opens. At some point in its life its has been signed by almost every major guitarist there is. We even have a few photos of the legends themselves carrying out the act for the lucky new owner. Steve vai, Guthrie Govan and Satch to name just a few of the 10 or so signatures we could spot. The guitar has had these signatures removed to reveal the full shockingness of the pink which has left a very cool ghost signature of some of the greats present. Its a players SK and has had a full overhaul on reaching us
Condition: Fit and Finish
Fret Life/Fretboard - This guitar has a good amount of fret life left and the maple fretboard is exquisite with only a very light discolouration
Tremolo - Solid unit, some blemishing indicative of play and very minimal pimpling present. Finish has worn in places but still completely functional
Neck - Neck Straight as an arrow with an incredible feel and grain. Neck has had a fall in its life (were hoping a neck swing rotation too many on stage) and this has been professionally cured and glued by a professional luthier under our strict supervision and requirements. Neck cracks are something all buyers should be aware of when buying a jem to ensure that they have been treated appropriately if present. If done correctly the neck is even stronger at the join than a standard neck and we only except the very best repairs on our instruments! This is now a cosmetic issue only and has been professionally checked, glued and set. It does not affect the guitars playability or tuning stability.
Electronics - As you would expect in a 777SK nstrument, there are no issues with electronics. Sounds like a dream and the PAF pros are legendary!
Body work/Paint- Fading, as is the case with any played SK is present. Very unique to this guitar is the ghost signatures of some of the greatest guitarists in the world and testament to how well travelled this guitar has been. Remarkably the bodywork is in fantastic condition with no major chips. There are 1-2 lacquer deep dings as photographed and some buckle rash on the rear of the guitar.
Case - This guitar comes with a lovely hardy flight case in good condition. Only a few signs of ware from storage, minimal marking and a few stickers for good measure
If the asking price is achieved I shall put this guitar through my set extensive set up process, which is quite a lengthy procedure, a summary of the process is below.
Shipping
I take shipping guitars very seriously and make sure it is bomb proof and all international shipping quotes come with £1000 worth of insurance for damage in transit. All are tracked and you will be issued a tracking number as soon as payment has been received and delivery arranged
Your guitar will go through the following process regardless of international or domestic shipping. I am happy to ship to anywhere in the world and have experience shipping to most international destinations.
All guitars are wrapped to the highest standard, inside the case the guitar will be bubble wrapped and any accessories individually packaged inside the case. Nothing loose will be left in the case. The guitar is then wrapped a total of 3 times in bubble wrap before a strong brown paper incases the the whole guitar.

"Hello Rex,
The guitar arrived in perfect condition today. Although I will be in Italy for another week, I had my housekeeper Skype me here in Florence and we unboxed and inspected the guitar together. All is good. Thank you for packing the guitar so well. I appreciate it. I can't can't wait to get back home and plug her in.
Cheers,"

"Hi Rex What can I say?
What an amazing guitar. I can't believe the condition its in after all these years. I sold mine many years ago to fund a Jem DNA and this is in even better nick than that one. Thank you for making the purchase effortless"

"I had been searching the internet for a decent used Jem for a while but was reluctant to purchase such an expensive guitar without seeing and playing it. The same with getting stuff off ebay without playing/seeing it….risky business!
I then came across sellmyjem.com and found a gorgeous V70 in sea foam green. The site is great…..loads of info and some of the best photos of used guitars I’ve ever seen…….proper Jem pornography!
The photos and write up for the V70 were fabulous and it was obvious that this seller loves his Jems!
Although I had been looking for a 7VWH I was really taken with the colour of this model. I checked out the specs on the Ibanez site and was a little worried to discover this model is made in Indonesia and not Japan so I contacted Rex from sellmyjem.com and we discussed the guitar at length……his knowledge of the Jem models was superb and being a great guitarist himself he understands how they feel and play. He assured me that the V70 was a cracking guitar and the quality from Indonesia was great……especially at the price.
I ordered it on a Wednesday evening and it was delivered Friday with Rex given me updates throughout its journey!
I can tell you now …… this V70 model is awesome. The pickups are smoking hot and the Edge trem is bloody insane! I don’t care that this thing was made in Indonesia it looks and plays amazing! It is also one of the most beautiful guitars I’ve ever seen…..the sea foam green with the tree of life inlay has to be seen in the flesh to be fully appreciated.
The description given on sellmyjem.com was also spot on……it said immaculate and that is exactly what it was. You couldn’t tell it wasn’t new.
I’m still looking for a 7VWH and won’t be getting it anywhere else but sellmyjem.com!
Thanks to Rex for your help and advice……..I couldn’t be happier……unless you could make my fingers quicker too!"

IBANEZ JEM 777SK DETAILS
The beautiful shocking pink of the Ibanez jem SK! The Ibanez JEM777 is the first JEM series guitar model and signature model for guitarist Steve Vai manufactured by Ibanez. It was revealed at the 1987 summer NAMM Show.
The JEM777 was available in three different and, at the time, unique finishes. Of the Loch Ness Green version was only available in 1987, only 777 were made. All of them were hand numbered and signed by Steve Vai. The Shocking Pink version was available from 1987 until 1989.
A toned down version of this guitar was also released in 1987 as the RG550. It doesn't feature the more labor intensive lions claw tremolo cavity, monkey grip and disappearing pyramid inlay.
The Ibanez JEM777 is the oldest Jem model having been developed back in 1985 and released in 1987 by the merged powers of Steve Vai and Ibanez whilst he was shopping around for a company fitting enough to bring the vision of the Jem into reality. Three different models were produced each labeled as the JEM777DY, JEM777SK, and JEM777LNG, with the color being the only real difference between them, each colored Desert Sun Yellow, Shocking Pink, and Loch Ness Green respectively.
The 777LNG was the first produced of all 777 Jems and only 777 exist each of which was numbered and signed by Steve Vai himself. The numbers produced of the yellow and pink guitars are unknown, but for what it’s worth the pink was produced from 1987 up to 1987 and the yellow from 87 all the way up to 1996. The original 777 models featured a basswood body with a maple neck and fretboard and had an Edge tremolo and DiMarzio PAF Pro pickups. The inlays were also originally pyramids that gradually depleted as they went higher up on the neck.
In 1988 a new black model was introduced which was overall the same save for the inclusion of a rosewood fretboard and the introduction of the now standard vine inlay. The black 777VBK ran until 1992. In 1989 two new models were introduced, or rather to new variations of older models. The 777DY and 777SK models were re released as the 777VDY and 777VSK with the rosewood fretboard and vine inlay, and while the pink didn’t linger past 1989 the yellow lasted up until 1991. It’s also worth mentioning the 777VDY and 777VSK featured Ibanez’s Wizard neck where the other models had thicker necks.
Also, since we’re on the topic, the 777VSK was manufactured, but not for a USA release due to a tendency for the pink paint used to fade. That would be the dictating reason why the pink models did not last past 1989.
These days the 777 line is among the most collectible guitars out there. It’s pretty infrequent, but every so often you can catch them on EBay for a substantially high price, and even more rare and proportionately more pricey you can find a Loch Ness Green JEM777. In fact that’s pretty much how this article began. A year ago Jameson actually spotted one and wrote this article. I’m just updating it now because having dead auction links crammed in single paragraph articles tend to look stupid. But you know what doesn’t look stupid? JEM777 guitars. At least if you’re into neon pink they don’t… and if you dig handle grips built into the body.
