Here is your chance to grab one while you can. The fact is these are becoming highly sought after and rarer by the month and we were shocked at just how good this guitar played. The neck on this 1990 is one of the best we have come across. Whomever set this up in Japan was an absolute master!
A pure collectors dream and an extremely rare production guitar, Still as extraordinary and whacky as ever. The NEON 777 guitars are highly sought after and progressively getting rarer and rarer. These guitars, with the disappearing Pyramid inlays are prized possessions of any guitar collector, screaming PAF pro pickups, Lo Pro tremolo with the patent inscription and the quality manufacturing that only Ibanez can produce from these golden years.
Possibly the best playing 777 we have had in many years. This guitar absolutely screams and is a homage to everything great about the old 777 jems. Purely ridiculous genius. If you EVER wanted an DY you just found a fantastic example.

Incredible 1990 Ibanez Jem 777DY Desert Yellow Pyramid Inlays! + Hard Case + Original Tremolo Arm
CONDITION REPORT
This guitar has been played and is no case queen. But boy, does it still have a story to tell. The neck profile on this particular jem is absolutely incredible to hold. The playability of this guitar unmatched and one of the very special Jems from the golden era that just sings. If your looking for an untouched mint condition then of course this isn't the guitar for you. However, these are becoming increasingly rarer to find in any condition and with all the original parts. The guitar has had a fresh set of PAF pros put in but the collector knew to keep the originals just in case and these are included if not a little faded so you get an EXTRA set of PAF pros. The originals had some fading and so these had been swapped out for a new set with the original matching PAF pros.
Condition: Fit and Finish
Fret Life/Fretboard - The Jumbo frets on these guitars always leave plenty of life in them regardless of play time. Lots of fret-life and playability in this guitar. Close up pictures are there for you to confirm. More can be provided if requested
Fade - Considering the fading on the pickups I expected the paintwork to show more but it has held up remarkably well. The fade, if any must be very equal across the guitar as there is only a faint hue change across the guitar that is barely perceptible.
Tremolo - Lo Pro Tremolo. Great example and works as it should. Considering the age of this guitar the previous owner clearly took care of the hardware. A very mild staining on the low E side Fantastic condition for the year and no obvious pitting present, a very smooth feel to the whole component.
Neck - Original Neck Straight as an arrow with an incredible feel and grain to the maple wood. I can detect the faintest of hairline stress lines in the nut but this is in no way structural or deep. These necks are legendary for a reason and this one is indeed extra special being from 1991. Whoever did the profiling on this neck really hit the sweet spot that is hard to describe. Only a few i've touched come close to this 777 neck. Its what I would describe as the perfect neck profile for a 777. Marks from playing add to the extra coolness of this guitar and show a proper amount of relic'ing thats authentic and in my opinion beautiful!
Electronics - The electronics scream! The original PAF pro pick ups are still in place and sound absolutely incredible! The 5 Way selector is new and from the period 1990 to match the original. The original needed a small service which can easily be done and is included should you want to take this back to original.
Body Paint - This is no mint case queen, she has been loved, played and cherished by the previous owner but there are no major chunks taken out of this. I have taken pictures of most notable marks.
Please take a look at the Store Website for more high quality images from all angles!
Case - Case functions well with edges showing some signs of wear. Latches still work flawlessly.

"Hello Rex,
The guitar arrived in perfect condition today. Although I will be in Italy for another week, I had my housekeeper Skype me here in Florence and we unboxed and inspected the guitar together. All is good. Thank you for packing the guitar so well. I appreciate it. I can't can't wait to get back home and plug her in.
Cheers,"

"Hi Rex What can I say?
What an amazing guitar. I can't believe the condition its in after all these years. I sold mine many years ago to fund a Jem DNA and this is in even better nick than that one. Thank you for making the purchase effortless”

"I had been searching the internet for a decent used Jem for a while but was reluctant to purchase such an expensive guitar without seeing and playing it. The same with getting stuff off ebay without playing/seeing it….risky business!
I then came across sellmyjem.com and found a gorgeous V70 in sea foam green. The site is great…..loads of info and some of the best photos of used guitars I’ve ever seen…….proper Jem pornography!
The photos and write up for the V70 were fabulous and it was obvious that this seller loves his Jems!
Although I had been looking for a 7VWH I was really taken with the colour of this model. I checked out the specs on the Ibanez site and was a little worried to discover this model is made in Indonesia and not Japan so I contacted Rex from sellmyjem.com and we discussed the guitar at length……his knowledge of the Jem models was superb and being a great guitarist himself he understands how they feel and play. He assured me that the V70 was a cracking guitar and the quality from Indonesia was great……especially at the price.
I ordered it on a Wednesday evening and it was delivered Friday with Rex given me updates throughout its journey!
I can tell you now …… this V70 model is awesome. The pickups are smoking hot and the Edge trem is bloody insane! I don’t care that this thing was made in Indonesia it looks and plays amazing! It is also one of the most beautiful guitars I’ve ever seen…..the sea foam green with the tree of life inlay has to be seen in the flesh to be fully appreciated.
The description given on sellmyjem.com was also spot on……it said immaculate and that is exactly what it was. You couldn’t tell it wasn’t new.
I’m still looking for a 7VWH and won’t be getting it anywhere else but sellmyjem.com!
Thanks to Rex for your help and advice……..I couldn’t be happier……unless you could make my fingers quicker too!"
Nick.
Ibanez Jem 777DY Information
Steven Siro Vai(born June 6, 1960) is an American guitarist, songwriter and producer who has sold over 15 million albums. After starting his career as a music transcriptionist for Frank Zappa, Vai recorded and toured in Zappa’s band for two years, from 1980 to 1982. He began a solo career in 1983, has released eight solo albums and won three Grammy Awards. He has also recorded and toured with Public Image Ltd., Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth and Whitesnake. Vai has been a regular touring member of the G3 Concert Tour G3 which began in 1995. In 1999 Vai started his own record label Favored Nations.
JEM777 is an electric guitar and first produced in 1987. It was revealed at the 1987 summer NAMM Show. The guitar’s most notable user is its co-designer, Steve Vai. So aside from being today’s #1 Rock guitarist, Steve Vai has some very definite ideas about guitar design. After carefully checking the elements that made his favorite guitars work, Steve drew all the best features together into one instrument, unique in both form and function. The features include the “Monkey Grip” handle, the “Disappearing Pyramid” inlays, lions claw and so on. For those who like to know, why they are called JEM and not SV or something like that. Joe Desagni, a friend of Steve Vai owned a company that called JEM guitars that made custom guitars. When naming this guitar, Steve Vai decided to use JEM finally.
The JEM777 was available in three different and, at the time, unique finishes and started the famous Jem-line. Of the Loch Ness Green version(LNG) was the first being produced and only available in 1987, only 777 were made (All signed by Steve Vai). The Desert Sun Yellow version(DY) was produced from 1987 until 1996. The Shocking Pink version(SK) was available from 1987 until 1989. All three have the 3 colours green, yellow and pink in it. And they all share the 3-color pyramid inlay.
Features of the JEM 777DY Guitar1987 JEM777 in Desert Sun Yellow was made for and owned by Steve Vai- customized personal favorite guitar used on David Lee Roth “Skyscraper” tour. Steve Vai gave this away for a children’s hospital charity. On the back, it was Steve Vai’s declaration: “To a worthy cause-this is my personal favorite guitar-Skyscraper ’88- Steve Vai”
The Ibanez JEM 777 DY is beautifully made from the basswood body to the maple neck. They are in accordance with the original JEM777. Although the body is a little heavy it offers lots of resonance giving the guitar very high levels of sustain. It is a totally balanced sound. Neon color combination and look!!! The Ibanez JEM 777 DY has a yellow body and black pickguard, green knobs and pink pickups, switch and lion’s claw. It looks fantastic!
Another feature of the JEM777 is the famous lion’s claw The lion’s claw is the space under the tremolo. Although the claw itself is just cosmetic, the space under the tremolo makes it possible to pull the tremolo as much as a 5th. The original JEM777 have 2 humbuckers and 1 single coil. We have duplicated it as well. Together with the special 5-way switch, they give a beautiful tone to the guitar when it comes to playing metal or hard rock as the pickups offer an excellent bass and treble response allowing you to get the perfect sound for those crunching, muted chords.
