It's winter! (at time of writing at a least, and for those in the northern hemisphere) What a perfect time to get yourself something floral that requires can remind you of warmer times. Something really quite special. The Ibanez Jem 77FP represents the very first incarnation of the Ibanez Jem model introduced in the early 1988. This is a lovely example of the 77FP. An opportunity to get a rare, vintage jem and a fantastic investment in an instrument that is only set to increase in value over time. We have not had many 77Fp's pass through us over the years but there has been a sudden change in the market for these beautiful guitars with very few coming up and its even rarer to see a first edition example. If you missed out on the last one we had, now is the time to snap up this beauty. See our full guitar condition report below for full details.
The beautifully retro design is actually real fabric based on Steve Vai’s classic curtains, pressed into the wood and lacquered. No easy feat when you consider the potential creasing that can occur working with fabric.

Beautiful Ibanez Jem 1988 77FP Floral Guitar
Something really quite special here. The Ibanez Jem 77FP represents one of the very first incarnation of the Ibanez Jem model introduced in late 1988.
The 77 Floral Guitars are all incredibly rare, amazing and beautiful instruments. With 2 variants the FP was was discontinued well over 12 years ago. This particular model was built in the late 80s and is a first edition example. This particular FP features the classic EDGE tremolo system. Jumbo frets, Fluorescent Green Vine inlays, 1-Piece Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with the original “JEM” neck profiling (this later changed post 2001) and the screaming DiMarzio PAF Pro pickups. The beautifully retro design is actually real fabric based on Steve Vai’s classic curtains, pressed into the wood and lacquered. No easy feat when you consider the potential creasing that can occur working with fabric.
Many of the old FP’s were played to death and finding a rare guitar like this in any reasonable condition is hard to get.
Privileged to offer this exceptional 77 Floral Pattern Jem . This guitar looks to have been used by a respectful owner with a few signs of wear.. See below for a detailed report on the exact condition
You simply don't see many of these models around very much anymore and they are usually completely modified. The 77FP is a completely unique design compared to many of the later Jems and is a prized addition for any collector
This is a piece of Jem history and a beautifully unique looking instrument made from the absolute highest quality materials
The 77FP was manufactured during the golden years of Ibanez guitar manufacturing 1988-1993 at a time when Ibanez really had their work cut out making a name for themselves competing with the USA brands. As a result the attention to detail, build quality and materials used are some of the highest every produced during the Ibanez Jems long running history. This is a chance to own one of the very best guitars ever produced and a highly collectable guitar that will only go on appreciating in value to the lucky new owner.

Condition: Fit and Finish
This is loved guitar and has some signs of use. A couple of chips on the outer edges have been shown in the HD pictures but functionally the guitar is ready to rip. This guitar hasn't been in tour but has had some bedroom/studio use with a few live shows judging by the condition. Please take a look at the HD pictures on here to confirm the condition for yourself. I have marked out in close up anything that should be of note to a potential collector/buyer. The only mark of note is on the back of the neck (see neck below)
Fret Life/Fretboard - Plenty of life in those frets,. The fretboard is exquisite with a stunning maple neck and a beautiful rosewood fingerboard
Tremolo - A good finish with very little tarnishing considering the year. The owner must have cleaned down the guitar after each play to keep the condition of this. There is a very little discolouration indicative of use. Only the faintest of pitting, very subtle. This tremolo is in fantastic condition. A HD picture has been taken close up. Largely what you would expect from a well cared for, near 30 year old guitar
Neck - Original Neck Straight with an good feel and grain. There are a couple of marks of note and have been photographed. Particularly, there is 1 pocket hairline mark on the lower horn pocket only, very common in heel joint guitars but this is not a structural crack of any kind and only lacquer deep. Of all pocket marks this would represent an extremely low grade mark. There is one small mark in the nut section of the neck that is around 7-10mm. Again quite common if you are over zealous and tighten the nut screws too much. This looks to be a very old, settled hairline that could be rectified if needed. It does not affect the playability of the guitar, very light in nature and could be easily rubbed over with fine grit to smooth out as these necks are unfinished, a 30minute job if its of any concern. Does not affect the playability of the guitar
Electronics - As you would expect in a golden era instrument, there are no known issues with electronics. Sounds like a dream, pickup selector snaps into place and these pick ups absolutely scream!
Body work- A few marks along the outer edge from its life, this is not a completely mint guitar and as such will have a few dents that have been photographed, all part of the nostalgia of a rock guitar! That said, overall the condition is remarkable for its age! The rear of the guitar has very few marks on it with most predominantly on the edge with one noticeable mark on the front part of the body.
Case - This guitar comes with a lovely NEW Thomann hard case in good condition, the latches function flawlessly. Only a minimal signs of ware from storage. Guitar comes with tremolo arm in case.
SetUp:
This guitar will have a basic setup (New strings, bridge height adjustment, Clean, Polish) if bought at asking price. However, no major adjustments such as truss rod/neck/fret changes due to the rarity of the guitar. We would recommend this be done after you receive the guitar so that you can personalise your setup.
Shipping
I take shipping guitars of this beauty very seriously and make sure it is bomb proof and all international shipping quotes come with £1000 worth of insurance for damage in transit, there is also an option not to take insurance but I strongly advise against!
All shipping can be tracked by you and you will be issued a tracking number as soon as payment has been received and delivery arranged
Your guitar will go through the following process regardless of international or domestic shipping. I am happy to ship to anywhere in the world and have experience shipping to most international destinations.
All guitars are wrapped to the highest standard, inside the case the guitar will be bubble wrapped and any accessories individually packaged inside the case. Nothing loose will be left in the case. The guitar is then wrapped a total of 3 times in bubble before a strong brown paper incases the the whole guitar. I have been shipping guitars all over the world for 10 years with no problems reported.
Yes they are offered! Most guitar sellers don't honour any returns at all but if you are not happy with your purchase then I'm happy to accept a return providing you conform to the returns policy of the website. Please take a look at the sellmyjem Returns Policy for both international and domestic. If you are not happy with your guitar it can be sent back subject to return postage costs being covered by the buyer.

"Hello Rex,
The guitar arrived in perfect condition today. Although I will be in Italy for another week, I had my housekeeper Skype me here in Florence and we unboxed and inspected the guitar together. All is good. Thank you for packing the guitar so well. I appreciate it. I can't can't wait to get back home and plug her in.
Cheers,"

"Hi Rex What can I say?
What an amazing guitar. I can't believe the condition its in after all these years. I sold mine many years ago to fund a Jem DNA and this is in even better nick than that one. Thank you for making the purchase effortless”

"I had been searching the internet for a decent used Jem for a while but was reluctant to purchase such an expensive guitar without seeing and playing it. The same with getting stuff off ebay without playing/seeing it….risky business!
I then came across sellmyjem.com and found a gorgeous V70 in sea foam green. The site is great…..loads of info and some of the best photos of used guitars I’ve ever seen…….proper Jem pornography!
The photos and write up for the V70 were fabulous and it was obvious that this seller loves his Jems!
Although I had been looking for a 7VWH I was really taken with the colour of this model. I checked out the specs on the Ibanez site and was a little worried to discover this model is made in Indonesia and not Japan so I contacted Rex from sellmyjem.com and we discussed the guitar at length……his knowledge of the Jem models was superb and being a great guitarist himself he understands how they feel and play. He assured me that the V70 was a cracking guitar and the quality from Indonesia was great……especially at the price.
I ordered it on a Wednesday evening and it was delivered Friday with Rex given me updates throughout its journey!
I can tell you now …… this V70 model is awesome. The pickups are smoking hot and the Edge trem is bloody insane! I don’t care that this thing was made in Indonesia it looks and plays amazing! It is also one of the most beautiful guitars I’ve ever seen…..the sea foam green with the tree of life inlay has to be seen in the flesh to be fully appreciated.
The description given on sellmyjem.com was also spot on……it said immaculate and that is exactly what it was. You couldn’t tell it wasn’t new.
I’m still looking for a 7VWH and won’t be getting it anywhere else but sellmyjem.com!
Thanks to Rex for your help and advice……..I couldn’t be happier……unless you could make my fingers quicker too!"
Nick.
Ibanez Jem Ibanez JEM 77FP Specifications
The JEM77 FP was introduced in 1988, one year after the initial introduction of the JEM series. It was available in the US until 1999 but returned in 2003 as the 15th Anniversary JEM77FP. Outside the US it never was discontinued and remained in production from 1988 through 2004. With its 17 years of production, it was the longest running JEM model until it got surpassed by the JEM7V in 2009.
The JEM77 FP was only the first floral pattern JEM, a second one was introduced in 1988 as the JEM77 BFP and a third one in 2010 as the JEM77 FP2.
The Floral Pattern finish of the JEM77 is created with actual floral pattern cloth on the body and headstock. The fabric is glued to the body, the edges are painted black and then fully clear coated. The actual pattern cloth was modeled after the curtains from Steve Vai's parent's home.
