Ibanez Jem 77BRMR 2005 Model
If you ever wanted the quintessential unique BRMR then you have come to the right place. Its rare that you find one that looks, sounds and plays as good as this example. This Guitar has been played once, by Steve Vai no less at a show in London before he signed the headstock (rear). The only other playing was from the set up procedure to get the frets, tremolo, pickups etc adjusted to the perfect height and to create one of the most amazing sounding Ibanez jems I’ve heard. The combination of the basswood body, genre defining edge pro tremolo system and rock mirror finish make this guitar the envy of most collections.
Guitars History
This was unboxed and placed in the hands of Steve Vai no less for a quick play and sign from the legend on the headstock at a show in London. It was then cased and on display (not played) for 2 years at HeadStock Distribution. It was then sold to a very conscious collector in 2007 where its spent its time boxed and is now offered for sale to you. A collectors dream right as these guitars continue to become more valuable over time, a fantastic investment or an amazing player
Complimentary Set Up?
Unlike most sellers, all guitars bought at the asking price come with a complimentary, professional set up. This is an extensive, time consuming process that I personally undertake. The procedure is laid out below but ensures that each instrument arrives to your door in exceptional condition and with a playability that only Jems can offer. You can be sure you are getting one of the best playing instruments around!
Condition: Fit and Finish
9.7/10 - The guitar has no wear from playing, anywhere, please see the pictures to confirm for yourself all hardware is Mint. The tremolo unit looks untouched. The frets show no wear, no oxidation. The neck is straight as an arrow, the rosewood fretboard sublime with rich colour and with no evidence of playing. The rear of the guitar has no blemishes or imperfections what so ever and still looks dark and glossy. The electronics ring clear and the pickup selector is especially snappy for a 10 year old guitar. It feels in every sense, completely new. The signature of Steve Vai is located in the most ideal place, behind the head stock and really adds to the character of the guitar whilst being inconspicuous enough to not distract from the guitar and wont rub off the instant you play it. Please bear in mind it can be wiped off very easily as no protective coating has been applied and so the new owner can choose to keep it or remove it as they wish.
There is evidence (although exceptionally minor) of “speckling” in the Mirror finish in 1 small location that was standard on the production BRMR and even came with a signed inspection form (2007, pictured) to inform the potential new buyer of the minimal defect and is naturally part of the mirror finish on the production BRMR (part of the reason for the limited run). This can only be seen at VERY specific angles and specific lighting conditions but is present and represents about the size of the diameter of a can of coke. I have tried to capture this on the HD pictures which you will see, is an exceptionally minimal speckle but as always I like to ensure that buyers know 100% the condition of a guitar before you commit to buy.
Finally 1 minimal chip, most likely when it was plugged in for testing about half the size of a grain of rice, INSIDE the Jack socket. Every other component on this guitar is completely MINT
I will put this guitar through my set up process as complimentary service if the asking price if offered which is quite a lengthy procedure, a summary of the process is below.
All of the above ensures that when you receive this guitar you will have a truly exceptional instrument and be able to take this straight out of the box and enjoy one of the best playing Ibanez Jems available
Shipping
I take shipping guitars of this beauty very seriously and make sure it is bomb proof and all international shipping quotes come with £1000 worth of insurance for damage in transit, there is also an option not to take insurance but I strongly advise against! All are tracked and you will be issued a tracking number as soon as payment has been received and delivery arranged
Your guitar will go through the following process regardless of international or domestic shipping. I am happy to ship to anywhere in the world and have experience shipping to most international destinations.
All guitars are wrapped to the highest standard, inside the case the guitar will be bubble wrapped and any accessories individually packaged inside the case. Nothing loose will be left in the case. The guitar is then wrapped a total of 3 times in bubble wrap before a strong brown paper incases the the whole guitar.
