THE UV77MC MKR
What a privilege to offer and introduce this exceptional guitar to you: the legendary Ibanez UV77MC MKR from 1990 (First edition with Edge 7 tremolo) .This instrument represents a pivotal moment in guitar history, being one of the first mass-produced seven-string guitars and a signature model of the virtuoso Steve Vai. The UV77MC is renowned for its distinctive multicolor swirl finish, each one unique, making every guitar a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. This particular guitar boasts a vibrant and well-defined swirl pattern, a testament to the craftsmanship of its era.
In impeccable condition, this guitar has been meticulously maintained, having been a wall-hanger in a dark room, away from direct light, since its purchase in 2009. It has been recently restrung and cleaned for sale. The original strap holders are included, along with Vai cliplocks added by the owner.
This also includes the pink lined original case thats still as vibrant as the day it was purchased!
This is a true collector's piece, offering both historical significance and unparalleled aesthetic appeal.

THE OFFER PROCESS:
Please do not purchase directly from this sales page, as this is a consignment guitar. Instead, please submit an offer. To be fair to all interested customers, we handle asking price offers in the order received, followed by other offers in descending price order on a first-come, first-served basis. This process allows time for shipping and insurance quotes to be calculated. Once all details are confirmed and a deposit payment is received, the guitar is then reserved for you while we arrange logistics, shipping, and the balance payment. Counter-offers are considered only if there are no asking price offers.
All offers should be submitted by contacting us directly. We anticipate significant interest in this extraordinary guitar and will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible to all inquiries, always in the order received.
Once an offer is agreed upon, you can secure this guitar with only a 10% deposit. This deposit is payable to Sell My Jem via secure PayPal payment once your offer has been accepted. You will then complete the transaction directly with the seller for the remaining balance via PayPal to ensure the transaction is protected throughout. Your deposit is held on account until you have received the guitar and confirmed delivery. The Holy Grail! (As New) Ibanez UV77MC MKR (1990)
GUITAR CONDITION REPORT
Purchased by the current owner in 2009, this Ibanez UV77MC is a 1990 first edition model from the iconic original production run, making it a highly sought-after piece among collectors and players alike. It was part of the very first multicolour swirl UVs crafted in Japan by FujiGen for Steve Vai, with each guitar’s swirl finish uniquely hand-applied, ensuring that no two are ever the same.
This guitar has been well cared for throughout its life, having been played but clearly cherished, which is evident in its excellent condition for its age. Unlike many UV77MCs that have suffered heavy wear, this example retains a vibrant and striking swirl finish with only light signs of use, such as only minor pitting on the tremolo unit that is exceptionally minimal for a 1990 instrument.
A true collector’s piece with undeniable stage presence, this UV77MC offers the rare opportunity to own a piece of guitar history in a condition that is rarely seen for models of this era.
Guitar has recently had a professional setup but see below regarding personalised setups if you would like further adjustments to the instrument.
Fretboard & Fret Life
The fretboard is in fantastic condition, and the frets show only light signs of use consistent with careful play. They retain excellent height and shape, offering a smooth playing experience with plenty of life remaining.
TremoloThe tremolo system is in very good condition, with some light pitting present, which is incredibly minimal considering the guitar’s 1990 vintage. This light patina is a testament to the guitar’s age and authenticity while reflecting its careful use over the years. Please refer to the close-up pictures for confirmation.
NeckThe original neck is straight and true, exhibiting a beautiful feel and grain typical of early UV models. There are no cracks or structural issues to note, and importantly, this guitar shows no neck pocket cracks, a common issue with models of this era, making this a particularly well-preserved example.
ElectronicsAll electronics are in perfect working order. The DiMarzio Blaze II pickups deliver the powerful, articulate tones these guitars are famous for, offering a distinctive sound that cuts through a mix while retaining clarity and warmth.
Bodywork/PaintThis is where this UV77MC truly shines, featuring a rare and exceptionally well-executed swirl finish with deep, defined colours and an abundance of vibrant red that collectors especially seek. The guitar’s condition reflects careful, meticulous ownership, with no dings, scratches, cracks, dents, or marks of any kind to note. Additional pictures can be provided upon request and there is no more than light polish swirl or light pick marks on the clear coat under certain lighting angles. The finish presents beautifully, making this a standout example of the early UV77MC that will impress even the most discerning collector.
Case: The guitar comes with its original hard case, which remains in very good condition. There are only minor signs of wear from age and storage, but all latches, hinges, and the interior remain fully functional and protective.
