Mint Condition - Collectors Grade - Ibanez Jem 15th Anniversary (2003) 77FP Floral Pattern Electric Guitar + Hard Case + Tremolo Arm
Limited to an official allocation of just 125 guitars for the US market, the 2003 JEM77FP 15th Anniversary is one of the most desirable versions of Ibanez’s legendary Floral Pattern JEM.
This particular example is in exceptional, as-new collector condition with barely any playtime. More than two decades after it was produced, the body, neck, floral finish and hardware remain beautifully preserved. It is supplied with its original Ibanez hard case and tremolo arm. No dings, dents, scratches on any of the bodywork (see guitar condition report below)
For an FP - this is the Holy Grail - For the collector seeking a genuinely special Floral Pattern rather than simply another used example, this is an outstanding opportunity.
CONDITION
The guitar is in exceptional, as-new condition and shows remarkably little evidence of having been played.
The factory protective film is no longer present on the rear covers. However, the instrument itself has clearly seen very limited use and has been carefully stored throughout its life.
The body, neck, hardware and floral finish all present beautifully, with barely any discernible playwear. We use terms such as “mint” and “unplayed” very cautiously at Sell My Jem, particularly when describing guitars over 20 years old. “As-new with minimal playtime” is the most accurate description of this example.
Please study all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition report. It would be extremely difficult to find another 2003 Floral Pattern JEM preserved to a substantially higher standard.
JEM77FP 15TH ANNIVERSARY INFORMATION
The original JEM77FP Floral Pattern first appeared in 1988, just one year after the launch of the Ibanez JEM, and became one of the longest-running and most recognisable designs in the Steve Vai signature range.
Its unforgettable finish is not simply a printed graphic. The floral pattern was created using real patterned fabric inspired by curtains from Steve Vai’s family home. The fabric was applied to the body and headstock, finished around the edges in black and sealed beneath the guitar’s clear coat. This extraordinary construction method makes every original Floral Pattern JEM subtly unique.
Although the JEM77FP disappeared from the US market after 1999, it returned in 2003 to celebrate the model’s 15th anniversary. The official US Anniversary allocation was limited to just 125 guitars, making these particular 2003 examples an especially fascinating and collectable part of JEM history.
The 2003 model also represents an interesting meeting point between the original Floral Pattern design and later Ibanez developments. It retained the traditional block-style heel construction associated with earlier Floral Pattern JEMs while receiving the then-new Edge Pro double-locking tremolo.
Later Floral Pattern guitars also feature the unusual six-digit 26xxxx neck-plate numbering associated with the final generations of traditional neck-plate JEMs. These numbers should not simply be interpreted as conventional production-year serials. Where both identifiers are present, the headstock serial provides the important factory dating reference.

As-New Collector Condition Ibanez Jem 15th Anniversary 77FP Floral Pattern
GUITAR CONDITION REPORT
This exceptional 2003 Ibanez JEM77FP was produced to celebrate the 15th anniversary of one of the most distinctive and collectible JEM designs ever created. The Floral Pattern finish uses real patterned fabric beneath the clear coat, meaning every guitar has its own individual fabric placement and is subtly unique.
The 2003 anniversary model received an official allocation of just 125 guitars for the US market and is distinguished further by its unusual six-digit 26xxxx neck-plate numbering. The serial number on the rear of the headstock remains the principal reference for dating the instrument.
This example has spent close to seven years carefully stored in its original hard case and appears to have received almost no meaningful playtime. It may have been lightly handled or tested, but there is virtually no physical evidence of use. The protective film is no longer fitted to the covers, although the guitar itself remains in outstanding, as-new collector condition.

GUITAR CONDITION: FIT AND FINISH
An exceptional, close-to-unplayed example. The body, neck, hardware and floral finish remain in beautiful as-new condition, with no chips, dings, dents or notable scratches. The clear coat remains bright and glossy, while the colours within the floral fabric retain their original depth and vibrancy.
The only point to note is some light surface oxidation on the frets, caused by the guitar remaining in storage for an extended period. This is cosmetic and storage-related rather than fret wear. A straightforward fret polish would return them to their best.
FRET LIFE AND FRETBOARD – Virtually full fret life, with no measurable wear or flattening associated with regular playing. The rosewood fretboard is exceptionally clean. Some light surface oxidation is visible on the frets after long-term storage, and we recommend a routine fret polish before regular use.
FLORAL FINISH AND CLEAR COAT – The genuine floral fabric finish remains exceptionally vibrant and beautifully preserved. We can see no fading, lifting, delamination or clear-coat damage. The precise positioning of the fabric pattern is unique to this particular guitar.
TREMOLO – The original Edge Pro tremolo remains in outstanding condition, a small blemish (for the eagle eyes) can be seen on the low E side next to the pivot post around 1.5mm (see photo) the only exception with no other notable pitting, corrosion or evidence of use. It is supplied with its tremolo arm.
NECK – The original one-piece maple JEM Prestige neck is straight and exceptionally clean. There are no known cracks, repairs, headstock damage or structural neck-pocket issues.
ELECTRONICS – The original DiMarzio PAF Pro/JEM Single/PAF Pro pickup configuration remains in place. The electronics and controls operate as expected, with no known issues.
BODY AND HARDWARE – The basswood body, clear pickguard, controls and Cosmo Black hardware remain in remarkable condition. We can find no significant blemishes or signs of regular playing anywhere on the guitar.
CASE – Supplied with its original Ibanez hard case, which remains in excellent condition after storage. Any extremely minor handling or storage marks should be considered commensurate with age.
This is a genuinely exceptional collector-grade JEM77FP: one of the most recognisable instruments in the JEM family, presented in condition that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. It offers the appearance and preservation of a near-new guitar while retaining all the character, specification and individuality of the celebrated Floral Pattern design.
SET UPS
Shipping can introduce subtle changes as a result of variations in temperature and humidity. Allowing the guitar to acclimatise before completing the final setup ensures that the action, tremolo, neck relief and intonation can be adjusted accurately for the buyer’s environment and playing preferences.
After close to seven years in storage, we also recommend a routine fret polish to remove the light surface oxidation described in the condition report. This is cosmetic storage-related oxidation rather than fret wear or damage.

Optional damage and loss insurance is available at 1% of the guitar’s declared value. Although insurance is optional, we strongly recommend it for an instrument of this value.
Before shipping, the guitar will be carefully secured and protected inside its original hard case. The tremolo arm and any other removable items will be packaged separately so that nothing can move freely during transit. The closed case will then be protected with multiple layers of bubble wrap and enclosed in strong outer packaging.

RETURNS
If you are unhappy with your purchase, you may request a return in accordance with our website Returns Policy. Unless the guitar is faulty or materially different from its description, the buyer is responsible for the cost and safe return of the instrument.
The guitar must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, together with its original Ibanez hard case, tremolo arm and everything else supplied with the purchase. It must also be packaged securely and returned using an appropriately insured and tracked shipping service.

Ibanez Jem Ibanez JEM 77FP Specifications
The original JEM77FP was introduced in 1988, one year after the launch of the JEM series. It remained available in the United States until 1999 before returning in 2003 to celebrate the model’s 15th anniversary. Outside the United States, the original Floral Pattern remained available until production ended in 2004.
The JEM77FP was the first Floral Pattern JEM. It was followed by the blue Floral Pattern JEM77BFP and, much later, the JEM77FP2.
The finish is created using genuine floral-pattern fabric applied to the body and headstock. The edges are painted black before the fabric is sealed beneath the clear coat. The pattern was inspired by curtains from Steve Vai’s parents’ home, and the positioning of the fabric makes every JEM77FP subtly unique.
